Inter win the Supercoppa Italiana
Inter beat Roma 2-2 (6-5 on penalties) to win the Supercoppa Italiana. The Supercoppa is the preseason game between the winners of Serie A and the Coppa Italia from the previous season (the same way the community shield is played in England).
This was the 3rd straight meeting between Inter and Roma, with Inter winning in 2006, Roma in 2007 and now Inter in 2008.
Sulley Muntari and Daniele De Rossi traded goals in the first half, and Mario Balotelli and Mirko Vucini again equalized the score in the 84th and 89th minute respectfully.
In the penalty shootout, Dejan Stankovic's shot hit the bar for Inter, but Francesco Totti also hit the bar with a chance to win the game. Juan's kick was then saved, and Javier Zanetti converted for Inter to give them the trophy.
Here is the penalty shootout.
