Alberto Gilardino to Fiorentina

It has been confirmed today by Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino that a deal has been made to bring Italian striker Alberto Gilardino to Fiorentina from AC Milan.

Gilardino scored 9 goals in 40 games for Milan this year and was stuck on the bench for most of the season playing behind Filippo Inzaghi and Pato. This past season was a big step down for the player that won Serie A player of the year in 2005.

Gilardino is still young at only 25 years old and should be a starter for Fiorentina playing alongside Adrian Mutu. Don't be surprised to see Gilardino's name among the leaders in goals next season in the Serie A.

Finally! Gilardino can play regularly week in week out at Fiorentina. I say, what took him so long to decide to move? Pato all of a sudden came to AC Milan and got more confidence by Ancelotti even though Gila was there longer.

I honestly don't know why Gilardino was put in the bench so much this season.

As with many players its tough to make an immediate impact on a game and score goals when you have been sitting on the bench for a long time.

As an AC Milan fan I'm sad to see him go.
