Maldini to Play Another Year

AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini has gone against his earlier decision to retire, and has instead decided to come back for another year.

Maldini, who will turn 40 this month, said that he evaluated his health this off season and believes he can still play.

He said, "Playing football is something that I like doing and I think I can still do it well. Everyone was worried,I think that this is the outcome they were hoping for."

As an Milan fan, I'm very happy to hear this news. Maldini won't start every game, but his presence on the team is invaluable.

Maldini is the true definition of a calcio warrior. He was instrumental in the 1994 World Cup run and has been playing top notch defense in Serie A for too many years to count. It was a bit of a shame that he was too old to take part in the Azzurri's championship squad, but his accomplishments with scudettos and Champions League titles can help cover the dissapointment

Very nice blog if I might add. I have a soccer forum that is suffering from a lack of members lately, so I might consider changing its format to a blog. Are you a Serie A fan primarily ?

thank you....I'm a Serie A fan, AC Milan supporter.

My favorite player is Kaka.

I have many relatives that live in Italy and their passion for the game, and primarily Serie A really got me into soccer.

If you do decide to make a blog post it here and I will be happy to go on it and read.

Same here. I'm Italian-American. Mother is from Italy and my Father half Italian. My relatives are from Palermo so I am a big "U.S. Palermo" fan along with AC Milan for the Champions League (maybe a weak Eastern European team will go into financial trouble and open up a spot for them in next years CL.) Anyways, I'll be sure to drop by your blog. If you like you can visit my site and drop some lines. footballfansworld.com ...... FORZA AZZURRI !!!

I agree Maldini's presence matters a lot at AC Milan. So you're a AC Milan fan? I was wondering why the blog title was "il mondo di calcio" and most of the news was about premiership and Euro 2008. Io sono tifosa della Roma.

What else could we say about the great living legend Paolo Maldini? BRAVO.

Not only Maldini is a symbol of Italian football and Milan, but he is also "the spirit" of Milan.

I am so happy Maldini is staying for another year. Time to rebuild MILAN and I want him to retire in glory by bringing back Milan to their highest splendor.

Thumbs up Maldini! :)
