Trezeguet Is Done

David Trezeguet announced today that he has retired from international competition for France.

This decision is obviously in response to the news earlier in the week that France coach Raymond Domenech would remain as coach, even after France's terrible showing at the Euro's.

Trezeguet was left off the Euro 08 squad by Domenech, even after he scored 20 goals for Juventus this past season.

Trezeguet's quote is, "Domenech stays means that I leave the French national team....Too many political rather than football decisions are being made and the public opinion is not being respected."

This is obviously a huge blow for the French national team, as Henry had almost no support from anyone during the Euro's.

This is a fitting finale to the France's Euro 2008 fiasco. It is amazing how a country with so much soccer talent fared so badly...

It felt like he already was retired since he virtually wasn't called up under Domenech in the last months. Amazing how the French FA would prefer keeping Domenech who hasn't won anything in the international level.
