Jozy Altidore Moving to Spain

New York Red Bulls star Jozy Altidore has agreed to a transfer to Spanish club Villarreal.

The transfer price is around 10 million, a record amount for an MLS player, surpassing the 5 million Fulham paid for Eddie Johnson.

Altidore still has to come with personal terms with Villarreal and pass a physical.

Villarreal came in 2nd place in La Liga last season.

The MLS is starting to gain more publicity beyond the over rated hype of David Beckham. Donovan, Mathis, McBride, Dempsey, Keller, Friedel....all have made it in Europe to some extent. Altidore is a talent and Villareal will be able to utilize him well. They already have a decent club with one of my favorite players, Giussepe Rossi and they added Edmilson recently. They should be a threat again next season to Real and Barca in 08/09.
