Xavi Voted Euro 08 Top Player



UEFA voted Spain's Xavi as the Euro 08 top player of the tournament.

Andy Roxburgh who was a member of the selection group said that, "We have chosen Xavi because he epitomizes the Spanish style of play. He was extremely influential in the whole possession, passing and penetrating kind of game that Spain played."

Defenders- Pepe and Puyol were extraordinary. Bosingwa as right back did well except in the quarterfinal.

midfielders: Senna and Xavi best of the list. Podolski didn't shine in every game. Ballack didn't deserve to be on the list. Ok, 1 decisive goal and the one against Portugal. I think he was completely uninfluential in the euro 2008 final. Too hyped up.

Xavi as Player of the tournament is fair. I think it is a reflection that it was really a team effort from Spain.

Palvyuchenko doesn't really belong there - he missed too many chances. I think Nihat or Semih should be on the list instead. Too bad that Porgrebnyak - Russia's number one striker - got injured right before the competition.
