Juventus to Sell Trezeguet

Goal.com is reporting that Italian club Juventus is set to sell striker David Trezeguet to Barcelona.

Barcelona is set to offer 20 million for Trezeguet. Trez had a great season in Serie A last season, scoring 20 goals which ranked him 2nd in the league.

Because Trezeguet is 31 years old, Juventus believes getting 20 million for him is a great deal.

The Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Juventus will use the money from this sale to sign 3 additional players, Xabi Alonso from Liverpool, Fabio Quagliarella from Udinese, and Rafael Marquez from Barcelona.

I think selling Trezeuget is a mistake, but the price Barcelona is just too good. If Juventus is able to add all the players they are going after, I think they will be in great shape next season.

As an Italian, I will shed no tears to see Trez leave Juventus for Barca. He ripped out hearts out in Euro 2000 only for us to shatter his soul in World Cup 2006. If they utilize Amauri better than they have Iaquinta then the Old Lady should be able to compete for the scudetto next season.
